About

The purpose of the Association is to promote the maintenance and improvement of the environmental quality of Douglas Lake, its watershed, fishing, and the quality of life of its residential community.

Toward this end, the Association shall:
     1. Develop, promote and carry out programs and activities to achieve the above          purpose.
     2. Communicate Association goals and activities to the Association members and to          community leaders and organizations sharing common interests with the
         Association.
     3. Promote regulations concerning the preservation of natural resources property          values and encourage compliance with these regulations.
     4. Promote broad and active participation by Association membership.

 

The Douglas Lake Improvement Association “DLIA” is dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of life for residents of Douglas Lake.  The DLIA promotes environmental responsibility, community bonding, and communication through the association’s newsletters, annual meeting, and its’ website douglaslake.org

The following is a partial reproduction of a DLIA newsletter from 1978 or 1979. These particular excerpts were contained in a publication called "Douglas Lake Profile" prepared by the University of Michigan Biological Station. We can probably relate to the recent history contained on pages 1 & 2 and most certainly appreciate the Glacial History.
